Description: Antique Embroidered French Vestment Gold Cross Velour Salesman's Sample Chasuble Antique Embroidered French Vestment Gold Cross Velour Salesman's Sample Chasuble Click images to enlarge Description Antique French Design for a Catholic Chasuble, Salesman's sample from the New York - Lyon firm Leon Kunstenaar, large embroidered sun-like cross hand sewn over a Y-shaped gold and purple cross on black textured velour, 19 by 29 inches, in very good condition (the item is lightly wrinkled and creased). The back is lined in red silk and has the original "Leon Kunstenaar" and "Made in France" labels sewn at the top. There is also an identification label stapled to the garment on the upper left corner. The item has been in storage for many years and is being sold as found. It needs to be properly dry-cleaned. From my research, the Leon Kunstenaar firm was in business in New York approximately between 1890 and 1950. As it exists now, the embroidery is heavy and spectacular, especially on the black velour, an unusual color for chasubles. Salesman's samples for vestments are exceedingly scarce.
