Description: Estate find, This is a fabulous antique French, made in France, Brevete SDGD brooch and clip earring set. The set is beautifully detailed gold toned and enamel Japanese Maple leaves accented with prong set turquoise colored stones, the brooch has an antique Trombone pin clasp and a clip which allows the brooch to be used as a dress or fur clip, it would be possible to hang it on a chain or ribbon to wear as a necklace too. The brooch measures 2 1/2 inches. The earrings measure 1 1/2 inches and as shown are vintage clip on. This is a beautiful set, the detailing of the leaves is extraordinary, the set is unmarked as to the actual maker, the name Brevete SDGD refers to a special French patent used between the late 1800s and 1920. I found this information on the internet explaining the use of the mark Brevete SDGD. "Brevet SGDG jewelry was madebetween the late 1800s and 1920. Brevet SGDG was a French type of patent that was no longer in use after 1968.
