Description: Offering this early 20th Century, Italian oval sculptural plaque. Work depicting an expertly carved head of a horse in profile mounted to a larger beveled marble plaque. Hand-carved in Carrara marble - solid and heavy weighing 9.7 lbs before shipping. Matte finish. Hand incised on back “Made in Italy” and “N14” below. Made in italy. Circa 1920 or earlier. Routed hole in back with heavy gauge metal hanging hardware. Measures 11”H x 8-1/8W; projecting 3-1/4” from wall. Unaltered, antique condition with original patina. Forward ear chipped - see photos. Some opaque marks on edges and high relief areas of sculpture. Minor age-related fading.
