Description: this is a lovely antique "still life" oil on Academy Board painting depicting group of bluish-purple grapes on a table topped by two large green leaves - the grapes are set off by background colors which transition from gray-black colors in the upper left to yellow-gold colors in the upper right of the painting - this multi-colored background highlights the bluish-purple grapes in the foreground - in the lower right corner of the painting is the artist's signature "S. C. Hays" - the painting measures 12" x 18" sight size, & is in very good antique condition with bright & bold colors - on the reverse of the painting is part of a label which in total would read "Academy Board Devoe Co." which was the preferred painting surface for many c.1890's artists - the painting is well-enhanced by its original gilded gesso on wooden frame which measures 15" x 21", & is also in very good antique condition -
