Description: This estate fresh rug has spent many years on the floor and shows compressed, low pile and areas of visible foundation. The red field is notably abrashed and the single weft weave suggest northwest origin perhaps Kurds north of Hamadan? Dating ca. 1910, the palette is rather limited and the carpet measres 63" at the ongest with the width varying from 37"-40". The colors are mostly (all?) vegetal and the variations in the red field are consistent on the back. It appears to have been woven with cotton warps and dark wool wefts.
