Description: Amazing antique original oil painting by Boston, Massachusetts marine painter E.C. Peterson. Boasts a tremendous impressionist winter landscape scene complete with house and barn alongside a frozen river with ice skaters out on the ice. Medium is oil on academy board. Signed in the bottom right by Preston. Additionally “‘23” and “Cary” inscribed at bottom right but possibly added later by a previous owner. Peterson’s paintings go for several thousand and this is potentially by him. See photo 24 for info about Peterson being incorrectly labeled as Petersen. Quite worthy of further research.
