Description: On offer here is a genuine and authentic Titanic era toothpaste pot lid. These John Gosnell lids were produced in a number of different colors, (including black & white one's) over 100 years ago, and I personally have seen (in magazine articles),pictures of these lids, which were retrieved from the debris field, of the wreck of the Titanic. It has been noted that quite a few of these jars have been retrieved from the debris field of Titanic, and so, it is the opinion of some, that the White Star line may have provided these ceramic jars of toothpaste as complimentary items to the 1st & 2nd class passengers. So, let me be clear, this pot lid was not retrieved from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, but is the same type, and from the same era, as those which were retrieved. This is a genuine antique piece from before & around the period of the Titanic era. The lid measures 3 1/8" in diameter. As you can see from the front profile of the pics, the face of the lid is absolutely perfect...a very clear image of a young Queen Victoria.
