Description: These exquisite antique Rosenthal Monbijou plates are true works of art. Each plateis hand painted in pastel shades of pinks and greens and soft browns and signed "EB".Monbijou refers to the the ruffled and scalloped shape of the various pieces createdon the same mold. Rosenthal created the Monbijou shaped white ware which was thensent out to be hand painted by only the most talented artists from around the world.These stunning 8" porcelain plates appear to have not been used, maybe just on displayas artwork. They are thin porcelain, translucent when held up to the light, with gold trim,but not so much as to detract from the gorgeous artwork. The backstamp in green underglaze dates these plates to the Art Nouveau period of 1891 - 1906. They are afine example of Art Nouveau style with flowing lines and natural designs.All the plates are in excellent pre-owned condition with no chips, cracks or utensil marks
