Description: Antique A. Stowell & Co. Royal Worcester Queen Victoria Jubilee Plate 1887 Manufactured by Worcester Porcelain Company, Ltd., compliments of A. Stowell & Co., to commemorate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee in 1887. Antique porcelain transfer printed whiteware plate, depicting a profile portrait of Victoria, bordered by wreath of Tudor roses, shamrocks, and thistles, to represent the United Kingdom of Great Britain. Internal banner reads "Victoria Dei Gratia [by the grace of God] Reg. et Imp. 1837.1887." This was the first royal commemorative plate made by Royal Worcester (in both blue and pink), commissioned by the Lord Mayor of Worcester, Walter Holland, and it was only distributed locally, making it a rare collectors item. Condition is good, no cracks or chips, minor scratching. Bears the Royal Worcester factory mark, with Y to indicate 1887 date, and Registration No. 69919. Diameter: 10.5 inches. Weight: 1 lb 5 oz.
