This pattern is only the second of the Witch Spoon line,created in 1892 and manufactured by the Gorham Silver Company, RI., commemorating the 200th anniversary of the infamous Salem Witch Trials. From a local Salem estate. Finely detailed cast handle depicts Salem's most iconic totems; a flying witch, broom, half moon, and a presumably black, crazy-eyed cat, with the storied city's name and date of 1692 on the handle. In near mint condition, this sterling silver demitasse spoon has a vermeil bowl and is unmonogrammed. Marked on reverse "Daniel Low ", whose company is credited with launching the genre of collectible souvenir spoons in America.
