Description: Late rare 1800's - U.S. Cavalry Sword and Scabbard with scarce metal grip. Worn etching on blade and wear throughout.Small branch missing with worn etching and barely legibleon blade.Withdrawals well with slight wiggle on hilt.Damage to branches as pictured.Blade is not sharp and appears to be a parade sword or dress sword.Appears to have been used heavy in the field and is (most likely) "of late Indian wars era."Rare metal grip is most likely an "experimental early 1902 model."Many of these swords were made well before the 1902 adoption by the military. Slight curved blade with small weep hole thru scabbard tip protector.36" overall length from scabbard tip to pommel cap.We have not seen another like it !
