Description: This Listing is for an A beautiful antique Turkoman Princess Bokhara carpet / rug . This Class Of Turkoman Carpets were usually woven by young women, as part of their dowry and or for their wedding and as a result are usually exceptional one of a kind treasures made to signify the expert hands and the passion of the maker in them, and are not commercial weavings. Beautiful use of finely detailed classical motifs. 15 Guls . Fine wool foundation , wool pile. Original pile, original ends and sides with side salvages redone in indigo blue. Exceptional quality wool used in construction of pile, warp and weft. It feels like velvet. Great, very sturdy construction, with a microscopic weave ( high kpsi count ) There is a floral and skirt decoration on both ends beautifully applied, creating a framed effect of the " elephant foot design". It measures 40 to 42 inches in width by 46 inches in length. Soft and velvety wool. Both ends secured. Selvages finely and completely redone in indigo blue. In Very Good condition with Less than 1/2 % of pile loss due to moth damage , a small hole due to warp breakage smaller than 1/2 inches by 1 inches on one end . One end complete in design and other end with very minor loss. Multi color natural and natural ivory warps . It has been soak washed by a textile conservator and shines brilliantly. It is clean enough to touch face with. Very sharp and very well drawn. Very dense silky wool. original hand Sewn Label as shown on back.
