Description: I was told that this is a Van Ryper (unsigned) model ship, however as I'm not a model ship expert, please review all photos and judge for yourself. Ship name is on both sides. Needs a solid cleaning but I leave that to the next owner so as not to disturb the ship. Lovely ship model. Beautifully done, skilled Craftsmanship at its finest. Note this is a vintage piece so has chips, dings, missing paint, etc. Very much like the ship itself, it has age and it shows the days gone by. Approx 9" long. The MV Aorangi was a transpacific ocean liner and refrigerated cargo ship. She was launched in 1924 in Scotland and scrapped in 1953. Her regular route was between Sydney and Vancouver. If this is a Van Ryper model, the man responsible for this lovely piece is the work of Charles Van Riper and his team, prominent in Martha's Vineyard.
