Description: This item is an antique vintage right-handed 34 3/4" (shaft has been shortened) Mid Iron. Made by Wilson from their Harry Vardon 72 Series. Has a nice wide flanged sole. The head is in good condition. Yes, it has the expected play nicks and dings but is not damaged. Please look at the many zoom pictures for a better idea of condition. The shaft is an old hickory. The shaft is straight, I see no cracks and it is tight at the hosel. Always re-set heads prior to play. 28* loft and an A 9 swingweight. If you extend this shaft to the appropriate length (38 1/2") it will gain approximately 22 swingweight points and will have a good playable swingweight. The grip is an old long leather wrap that is in poor vintage condition. If you are considering playing with this club, while I see no issues with this hickory shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage. Always re-set heads prior to play if it hasn't already been done. These hickory shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee hickory shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old hickory shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old hickory shafted wood with a hard range ball.
