Antique WMF Germany Large Handled Brass & Enamel Kettle Pot Jugendstil

Description: I am pleased to offer a wonderful decorative large handled kettle by Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik of Germany. This piece measures 10-1/2" in diameter and stands 13" to the top of the stationary handle. Marked on the bottom with "Germany" and shows the WMF Ostrich makers mark with a "G". Formed body appears to be brass and copper and has a hammered exterior. Piece shows a detailed decorative stamp along the sides trimmed in blue and green enamel. Top of handle has a similar round medallion. Founded in 1880 by the merger of two existing German companies, Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik in the early 1900's was the world's largest producer and exporter of household metalware, mainly in the Jugendstil style. The company's trademark was an Ostrich and at its height had several production sites in Germany, Austria and Poland. 6,500 workers produced 10,000 different items from the teaspoon to enormous table centerpieces. The metals used were mainly pewter with silver plating and copper. Widely known by its initials WMF, the company preferred to create its own designs in Art Nouveau and Art Deco style from their own studio. Condition:This beautiful piece shows only light wear and is in excellent condition considering age. There are a couple of spots along the decorative border where the blue enamel is missing. There are no dents, cracks, or major damage. Fine vintage piece displays very well and would make a nice addition to any collection or decor. Shipping:We have a 3-Business Day Handling Time.
