Description: This framed and matted Lazuli Finch print is Plate No. 171 of an original hand-colored lithograph from the first American edition of The Birds of America by James Audubon. The lithographs of this first octavo were done by the Philadelphia firm of J.T. Bowen in 1840-1844. It is the only octavo edition prepared under the direct supervision of John James Audubon. The print as matted is 5-3/4" wide by 9-1/4" high. The frame is 12" wide by 15-1/2" high. The back of the frame includes a Certificate of Authentication from Darvill's Rare Print Shop where purchased. The original text description of the Lazuli Finch accompanies this first edition octavo lithograph.
