Description: Austria-Hungary: Mobilization Cross 1912-1913. Bronze cross issued by Austria-Hungary to its troops that were mobilized during the First and Second Balkan Wars, 1912-1913. Austria-Hungary did not participate in either conflict, but was next to countries that were. As such, it was wary of being drawn into the wars, and mobilized a million troops as a precaution. The cross was created by Emperor Franz Josef on 9 June 1913, and awarded to members of the army and navy that served a minimum of four months (see von Falkenstein, Joseph. Imperial Austrian Medals and Decorations (1972) pp. 135-136). There were several makers of the cross; this example has the raised numbers; it is in near extremely fine condition and on the original tri-fold ribbon. Authenticity guaranteed; 14-day return privilege (30 days overseas), excluding postage, provided item is returned in same condition when sold. Item will be shipped USPS First Class Mail; will combine postage for multiple purchases.
