Description: This piece is a personal field find of mine, found in Ohio, auglaize co. and 100% authentic. Even though this is a heartbreaker piece and busted at one end. The rarity comes in as it is made with slate. This is not normally used do to it brittleness as a tool and usually used for pendents and orher ceremonial art wear. You can see it was in late pre-form state and being worked when loss ,do to the pecking marks, as they did in making hammers, axes, celts, etc. Its not a common stone for an axe at all. Full groove war club style with worked smooth at one end. As is and really a piece that shows true at hand workmanship prooving the technique used in stone tool manufacturing but at a higher level. Once finished and polished this would had been amazing. More pics if requested just PM me.. More rare finds to come such as a sand stone hammer ? Also field find and remarkable and baffling find lucky to have survived. All personal finds in Ohio Auglaize Co. Thank you for your intrest .
