Other scratch protectors out there both a) don’t cover the entire back of the guitar and b) are too thin to protect against dings. The material on the BackGuard is thick, but not heavy or cumbersome. I used scissors after carefully marking it. It's the real deal. I really like it. I'm using it on a new Bootlegger Spade guitar (polyurethane finish) which is headless and has a pretty small body, so a lot of it was left over. The back story is I'm the original owner of a 1980 Fender Strat which I've customized some. Several years ago I bought a "Scratch Pad" from Guitar Center and put it on the Strat.
