Up for purchase is a beautiful piece of untreated amber from the region of West Sumatra Island, Indonesia with a ruby red color when natural sunlight is shining on it. This piece is highly translucent.The majority of this piece has been polished and a hole drilled into it for stringing a chain or a cord for jewelry making.The color may vary depending upon how sunlight is striking it also.The piece weighs 11.8 grams (58 carats) and has an approximate length of 3.3 cm, a width of 2.6 cm and 1.6 cm height. Indonesian amber is a beautiful, all-natural amber from fossil trees that exhibits a rich range of colors. Indonesian amber is a recent find. This amber possesses a beautiful color. I also offer blue and green amber from other areas of Indonesia. The color can rival that of the finest Dominican and Chiapas (Mexican) blue amber. The color appears best when light is shining on rather than through the piece and is due to the natural, untreated, chemical fluorescent properties of the amber. It was mined from the earth in the Indonesian province of Sumatra or Sumatera (western region). No treatment of any kind was done to this to enhance the color. However, many amber sources or even specimens will not float in saltwater as their botanical (plant) composition as well as fossil inclusions are such that they are more dense than saltwater and so sink.
