Description: For sale is a primitive hand carved burl ladle with fantastic and very clear burl grain patterns, possible Native American origin. Features are consistent with 18th and 19th century primitive wares. Old patina that speaks for itself. Solid and stable condition. There is one V notch in the front which has probably been that way for ages. It will not sit alone on the bowl portion as the base is rounded. It will sit alone as pictured. This ladle is made from a burl which is a large rounded knot of dormant bud growths. This deformed growth pattern on trees yields a very dense wood with fantastic grain patterns that are highly sought after in the woodworking field even today. Antique burl wares have additional time worn aesthetics that make them very precious. Measures about 6" diameter and 12" long and bowl about 4 " deep. . It is clean and dry, no odor, would display well on a farm table at your home. There are age appropriate wears and natural imperfections in the wood commensurate with age. Please check all photos for detailed condition. Ship with careful packaging and full insurance. Check out my other antique primitive and collectible listings. I gladly combine shipping whenever practical.
