Description: Besson & Co "Prototype", Chicago Bore, in good playing and all around condition. Made in England. Valves are all free as are slides. Has good compression and valve plating. Serial Number 86147 (1904). Provenance: this instrument was acquired in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in late 1980 from an elderly bandmaster who believed it had been originally owned by a member of the Salem Band. It was restored to working condition 1981-82 by John "Peppy" Petinnato in New York City. Peppy was the chief repairman of the Vincent Bach Company prior to 1960 and then owned and operated his own repair shop in New York City catering to many of the world's great brass players. The instrument was intentionally not replated. This has been in the collection of the seller since 1980. The instrument will ship in what is believed to be its original case which is in very poor condition but will stay with the instrument. Item will be carefully packaged for USPS Priority Mail transit, fully insured, signature on receipt required. If you want the item shipped UPS, please contact us prior to purchase.
