In 1969, Joel and his drummer from the Hassles left that band to form Atilla, an acid rock band that played hard rock and heavy metal, and psychedelic progressive rock. By 1970, Joel was gone from that group (they only released one album), came out with his first solo album in '71, and set a path for himself that's lasted several decades now... In 1997, Columbia Records released a FOUR disc compilation titled 'Billy Joel: The Complete Hits Collection 1973-1997'. It's the three volumes of his greatest hits, plus a fourth disc titled "An evening of questions and answers...and & a little music". It really is an awesome box set of his best, and in a cool looking case that houses all four discs! The second disc, 'Volume II', contains a song newly recorded for that album, and it's one of his best, in my opinion: "The Night is Still Young". The case comes with a color booklet attached inside that includes song lyrics and credits. The front and back of the case looks great, with only a few very light flaws. There's a small hole on the spine. (See pic of that.) Inside booklet is immaculate. And the best part? The discs all look new, and are shiny and clean! The "Piano Man" never sounded so good... He released his first new song since 2007 earlier this year, in February. He has also toured several times with Elton John, another rock and pop icon.
