Description: This 1988 stereo album in the Artist Laureate Masterworks Digital series from CBS Records (M 42387) features performances of two works by Johannes Brahms: Concerto for Violin, Cello & Orchestra, Op. 102 (the so-called "Double Concerto") and Piano Quartet No. 3, Op. 60. The Double Concerto is performed by Isaac Stern (violin) and Yo-Yo Ma (cello), accompanied by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Claudio Abbado. The Quartet performance was recorded at Suntory Hall in Tokyo in 1986, and includes Emanuel Ax (piano), Isaac Stern (violin), Jamie Laredo (viola) and Yo-Yo Ma (cello). Album notes are in English by David Grayson. Also included are photocopies of two reviews of the album and performance, one from the June, 1988 edition of Gramophone magazine and the other from the August, 1988 edition of Stereo Review. The outer sleeve shows a small corner bonk at upper right (see Photo 1), and there is a small collection index sticker in the upper right corner of the back.
