Influenced by his sister Rosa he specialised in animalier sculptures with a special emphasis on horse bronzes. He exhibited both paintings and bronzes at the Royal Academy in London and won a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1889. His equestrian models were very popular and particularly amongst the British aristocracy.
