Description: Signed letter from Bud Wilkinson typed as Athletic Director on University of Oklahoma letterhead dated February 5, 1957. Wilkinson served as Head Coach of the Oklahoma Sooners football team amassing a record of 145-29-4 from 1947-1963 during which time they won three National Championships (1950, 1955 and 1956) and 14 Conference Titles. Their record of 47 straight wins still stands at the highest level of college football. Wilkinson is also famous as a sports broadcaster with ABC Sports who he joined in 1965 and later becoming Head Coach of the St. Louis Cardinals for a short stint. An athlete himself, Wilkinson excelled at five sports in school, particularly in football where playing with the University of Minnesota (Gophers) he led them to three consecutive National Championships from 1934-1936 and leading the College All-Stars to a 6-0 victory over the defending NFL Champion Green Bay Packers. A recipient of many accolades and awards, including AFCA Coach of the Year (1949) and Amos Alonzo Stagg Award (1984). 5.5 X 8. Excellent condition.
