Description: c 1850 Child’s Miniature Teapot Pearlware Transferware Staffordshire This is a child’s teapot printed in a red geometric pattern with rope detail finished with a pearlware glaze. The geometric pattern goes all around the body of the teapot and repeats on the spout; there are additional details on the top, handle, and lid. It is possible based on the blank that this was made by Davenport or Dimmity, Staffordshire, England, c 1850; however, potteries at that time sometimes sold their blanks to finishers who then went on to sell them as part of their production. Since there is no marking, the exact pottery is unknown. This miniature teapot was originally intended for use as part of a tea set made for a child. The teapot blank has vertical indents, a fancy swirl handle, and flower knob on the lid. The lid does not seat perfectly and does not have a steamhole, therefore, I suspect the lid is from the sugar or biscuit jar from the original set, however, this does not detract from the overall display value. Dimensions: 5.5” W x 3.75” D x 3.75” H Please pardon the white glare reflections in the photos. This teapot is unmarked and is in good condition with light crazing to the lid; there is the occasional smear to the transfer and a blue paint mark to the edge of the teapot. Additional minor typical firing imperfections sporadically may appear consistent production methods at the time it was produced, and age. Presented as is and as found.
