Prior to that, it was home to one of Adrian’s premier department stores, the A.B. Park Department Store. Ambrose B. Park first opened his department store in 1877 at No. 4 Maumee St. in downtown. But eight years later, the dry goods, rugs, draperies and ready-to-wear business that Park created was booming and a bigger space was needed. In 1885, Park built and moved his business to 117 S. Main St. Sadly, the store closed in 1971 after nearly a century as a staple downtown business.
