Description: A Roman senator and a leader of the plot to assassinate Julius Caesar in 44 BC. Cassius was jealous of Caesar's popularity and power, and felt that he had lost status. A leading instigator of the plot to kill Julius Caesar and the brother in-law of Marcus Junius Brutus. He commanded troops with Brutus during the Battle of Philippi against the combined forces of Mark Antony and Octavian and committed suicide after being defeated by Mark Antony in 42 BC. A Roman consul who supported Pompey the Great during the Civil War. Lentulus was captured at the battle of Corfinium, but was granted clemency by Caesar. However, he later went over to Pompey's side.
