CARNIVOROUS PITCHER PLANT: Sarracenia leucophylla "burgundy"; smaller size

Description: Up for auction is a immature Sarracenia leucophylla "burgundy". These plants are of flowering size and may have multiple growth points. Sarracenia leucophylla "burgundy" is an autumn producer. This variety starts the season with a set of pitchers that are slender and tall. Followed by phyllodia throughout the growing season. At the end of summer, pitcher production resumes. These late summer pitchers are the largest and most colorful of the season. Their maroon flowers are produced before the season's first pitchers on tall stalks. Sarracenia leucophylla "burgundy" is a registered cultivar. All plants labeled as a cultivar MUST be reproduced asexually from the original stock. It is advised flowers be removed before seed can develop. All plants sold under a cultivar by me have always been reproduced asexually. These plants will be slightly smaller than the mature plants sold in my other auctions. I'm offering these as a way for others to acquire these plants without the added cost. They will be producing adult leaves, but may or may not be currently sexually mature. They will also likely have a single growth point. If they do not flower the year of purchase, it will send up a flower stalk within 1-2 seasons. The photos in the listing are of the mother colony. They are NOT of the exact plants you will be receiving. Please keep in mind the variability of spring pitcher producers versus autumn pitcher producers while placing your order. All photos taken are to showcase plants during their ideal period of growth. If purchasing a plant out of season you can look forward to quite a show once it's season of heavy pitcher production arrives! These plants are now in full dormancy. Growth for the season has ceased, and this year's growth has begun to die back. The buyer should be prepared to provide the necessary conditions to complete the dormancy requirements. The plants will also be cleaned of all dead matter from the previous season. This may involve cutting foliage back to the rhizome. Shipping USPS Priority will be required to ensure healthy arrival. Plants will be shipped on Tuesday pending payment. If payment hasn't been made in time for Tuesday shipment, the shipment MUST be delayed until the following Tuesday. This is all to only ensure the shortest delivery time and reduce stress on the plants. In addition a delay is shipment due to extreme weather (heat/cold) may be possible, but will only be needed if the plant's health is in jeopardy. Some foliage may be removed to reduce water loss. This harms the plant in no shape or form, aside from cosmetically. Which I find far less of immediate importance than the overall health of the plant. The plants will be shipped bare-root and wrapped with fungicide treated damp paper towels. The buyer should be ready for delivery with materials to pot the plant. Do not allow the plants to remain packaged for potting the following day. Do not remove the plants from the package and allow the root stock to remain wrapped to be potted at a later time. Do not remove the packaging and root wrapping to "temporary" pot them until they can be potted correctly. Remove all packaging on the day of delivery and permanently pot up the plants in a suitable soilless medium.
