The Century Illustrated Monthly Magazine. Published monthly, New York by the Century Co. 2 volumes, each c. 950 pages (six consecutive months). Text in English. Profusely illustrated throughout with hundreds of wood engraved plates and in text illustrations (no covers or ads as bound). Period 1/2 leather binding, raised & gilt bands, gilt title lettering. This lot contains Vols. 34 & 35, including a rund of 12 monthly issues from May 1887 to April 1888 (six months per volume). Pair is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Pair is not new or in "new" condition but is quite nice. Bindings gently age worn, leather lightly rubbed but still supple, each book remains overall attractive as an object. Text block paper is gently toned, internally still clean, well preserved, tight, sound. Still attractive on the shelf. Pair displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
