Description: This is a good, solid vintage Childhood of Famous Americans Book George Washington Boy Leader by Augusta Stevenson, with the original silhouette illustrations by Lawrence Dresser. This is the 1953 printing. It was given as a Christmas gift in 1955. It is # 26 in the Series. The book itself is in very good, clean condition but has a gift inscription within dated Christmas 1955. The jacket has rubbing and edgewear, but is intact and has the original price of $1.75 on the front flap. The jacket spine is a bit faded. There is some paint loss on the jacket spine. This is published by Bobbs Merrill. I would grade the book as very good, the jacket as fair to good. The jacket art is still pretty good and the jacket is still protecting the book. Overall, this is a VG- copy. The book is almost 70 years old, so it's remarkable that it still has the jacket. Copies of the original orange cloth hardcover with the silhouette illustrations are becoming harder to find. This will be packaged carefully to prevent damage in shipping.
