Description: Erskine Caldwell's 1958 novel Claudelle Inglish is for sale here in its first paperback edition, published in 1960. This was the same year that it was filmed by Warner Brothers, directed by Gordon Douglas and starring Diane McBain and Arthur Kennedy. Claudelle Inglish is a tragedy; it tells the story of the eponymous southern farmer's daughter, Claudelle Inglish, whose fiancee jilts her after leaving home for the army. This sends Claudelle into w downward moral spiral. The book's ending is a gut-punch. Here are the condition notes: Good used condition. Book is square with an intact softcover binding. Exterior shows moderate wear including edge rubbing and rounded corners. Notably there is a small portion of veneer missing from the lower part of the back cover where (presumably) a price tag was affixed then removed. The first page has the number "3" drawn on it in pencil; otherwise, the interior is clean and unmarked with off-white, lightly tanned pages.
