Description: Great example of McFarrenware from The Mug Shop of Corona Del Mar California, circa 1950's. Bob McFarren and his wife Jane made restaurant ware mugs for many Los Angeles area businesses and high profile personalities in the 1950's and 1960's, including John Wayne. John Wayne contracted the Mug Shop to create mugs for his cast and crew during the filming of many of his movies. The shop originally created "tourist" mugs with a name and minimal hand painted artwork, but sales and popularity grew over the years, and the quality of both the mugs and the artwork improved greatly. This is an excellent example of an Advertising mug created by McFarren for Pi-Ute homes (Lancaster CA?) Overall great condition although some gold is worn off of the handle due to 50 years of use.
