Description: What is up for sale is a museum quality lost wax bronze casting, LE#12/25 of an orca in pursuit of a harbor seal. This is an extremely limited edition of only 25, with one artist proof. Peggy only casts one edition of each of her sculptures, protecting their value to collectors. The sculptor, Peggy Anne Detmers states, "The owners of Little D'Arcy Island commissioned this piece. They sailed me to the island where I stayed three weeks in a tent, venturing out in a little dinghy watching the orcas, harbor seals, miniature raccoons, sea birds and a myriad of underwater creatures. I learned from a marine biologist, who also was visiting the island, that certain pods of orcas prey primarily on fish and that other pods favor hunting the harbor seal. I was awakened at five-thirty one morning to hear the harbor seals rushing out of the water and slapping their tails to announce to the rest of the seal colony that the whales were coming through the area. I call this piece 'Dilemma Off Little D'Arcy' because of this life and death struggle just off the shore of my friends' island." This piece has a four-toned hot acid patina personally applied by Peggy Detmers. She also signs each piece. It is finished with a natural black and white custom cut marble stone with black felt on the bottom of the stone to protect your display surface. Delivery upon full receipt of verified funds. Buyer must pay any taxes liable for the locale at the point of possession (sales, excise, customs). Any interested buyers may contact Detmers Studios for a list of references. Peggy Detmers is renown for creating the 17-figure bronze monumental Native American Bison Jump at 125% life scale for a resort just outside Deadwood, SD, USA. This collection is one of the largest contemporary bronze assemblies of all original figures created by a single artist. It is shown as 3 mounted warriors chasing 14 bison OVER A CLIFF. That is DRAMA! Photos are included of this one-of-a-kind assembly to show interested buyers the scope of Peggy's accomplishments. Miss Detmers is a well renowned wildlife, equine and human figurative painter and sculptor. She also has her own furniture and jewelry lines. Peggy was a wildlife biologist before she became a wildlife artist. Her intense interest in the natural world comes out in her works.
