Here is a beautiful genuine piece of Dominican Amber, from the ancient forests of the Dominican Republic. It is sometimes called "Dominican Blue Amber" because of the bluish glow some areas give off. Shortwave may have a slight bit more bluish hue, but long wave is usually a bit brighter, with a bit more grey mixed in with the blue. Also, put a strong flashlight behind the piece and shine through the specimen towards you. We have done that in several photos. In many cases, the red-orange amber color can be magnificent (see photos). This particular specimen is about 2.59 inches at the longest measurement.
