The Story: Anthropologist Steven Phillip (Terence Stamp) conducts experiments on primates in an isolated Cornish seacoast villa. Student assistant Jane Chase (Elizabeth Shue) is a new member of this odd household, which also includes a 45-year old and very intelligent orangutan named Link, who also happens to be the butler. For reasons explained in the film, Phillip decides to put Link down, but before he can do this Phillip vanishes without a trace. Link becomes more and more aggressive towards Jane, even prohibiting her from using the phone or reaching the nearby village. Then Link becomes really scary... Comment: Link is a very effective "killer ape" film. This was a break-through movie for Elizabeth Shue (her second film). Along with Terence Stamp, Shue puts in an excellent performance. But, the real star of the movie is the orangutan Link - he is both sinister and believable. Unlike so many 80's horror films, there is just the right directorial touch to make it seem real - and really scary. The film's musical theme plus the whole musical score demonstrate why Jerry Goldsmith is one of the best composers in Hollywood. Link is mostly forgotten, but for movie and horror fans, it is a gem not to be missed. New, factory sealed disc, case and label imported from Australia on recordable media. The film is presented in widescreen 1.66:1 format, running time 99 minutes, with English audio and no subtitles. This DVD disc is NTSC format and designed to play on DVD players in North America.
