Description: A certificate presented to Edward Daniel Nixon by Tuskegee Institute of Alabama for his services in the field of civil rights. E. D. Dixon was a civil rights activist, union organizer, and president of the local NAACP who organized the Montgomery Bus Boycott. This included the selection of his secretary, Rosa Parks, to be the person who broke the law against Black Americans sitting in the front of Montgomery, Alabama city buses. The certificate is dated April 15, 1973. It is signed by L.H. Foster, the fourth president of Tuskegee Institute. It measures about 8 1/2" x 6 1/2". It is in good condition as shown with toning, mainly to the back, and some spotting from age. Displays really well. A museum grade piece of history, owned by and awarded to a seminal Civil Rights hero, and an awesome addition to any collection.
