Only a tiny amount of coins were struck for this famous King who abdicated in 1936 rather than give up his love for Wallis Simpson. The United Kingdom held varying parts of what was known as B.W.A. throughout the 19th century. From west to east, the colonies became the independent countries of The Gambia, Sierra Leone, Ghana and Nigeria.
