Description: Here is a decades-old land-mobile FM transceiver for the UHF business band made by EF Johnson. Model number is 558. Don't have specs, don't have service data. It's a single-channel radio set up to receive at 461.05 and transmit at 466.05 MHz. No mike, no power cord. No speaker. Just what you see in the pics. No specs. No idea the transmitter's power rating. It's too old to be a modern "split" channel narrow-band radio. It's built for +/-5 kHz deviation and 25 kHz channel spacing. 40 years ago this was called "narrow band". Times change, technology evolves. There is a small circuit board bearing the name "Ferritronics". Looks like a CTCSS, but I have no data about its real function. Not worth my time to unbolt it and inspect further. This model should date the late 1970s or early 1980s. The cast-aluminum chassis/frame made this one the premium model back in those days. And heavy. Now we get to find out if it has a market value that exceeds the cost of a ride to a new home. I'm not taking bets on that proposition. Needless to say there are NO RETURNS for this item, no matter how good the reason sounds. It has never been powered up even once in all the decades it spent on a shelf here, waiting in vain to become useful. Just never did. Hence the magic Ebay phrase "FOR PARTS OR NOT WORKING".
