Description: This is a rare playbill from the week of March 17th, 1952 for the Post-Broadway engagement of the CARSON McCULLERS award winning play "THE MEMBER OF THE WEDDING" at the Nixon Theatre in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (The production opened January 5th, 1950 at the Empire Theatre in New York City and ran for 501 performances before going on the road.) ..... The play starred ETHEL WATERS and featured BETTY LOU HOLLAND, JAMES HOLDEN, ROBERT MARIOTTI, PATRICIA FAY, PHYLLIS WALKER, AUGUSTUS SMITH, LOUIS PETERSON, VIRGINIA McMAHON, FRANCES INGALLS, JAMES MALONEY, MARY COTTERMAN and BARRY TRUEX ..... CREDITS: Book by CARSON McCULLERS; Sets and Costumes designed by LESTER POLAKOV; Directed by HAROLD CLURMAN; Produced by ROBERT WHITEHEAD, OLIVER REA and STANLEY MARTINEAU ..... The front cover (and the ad shown in the third scanned image) features CAROL CHANNING who would be starring the following week in the Jule Styne musical comedy hit "GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES" at the Nixon Theatre .....
