Time will tell if it's more effective than just wrapping with electrical tape, but it appears that it will be fine.Be forewarned, they are larger than they appear. From the pic, they look significantly smaller, but for my application, it shouldn't really make a difference. We have chickens and need to heat their water in the winter due to the cold temps in Utah. We run an extension cord from our barn to the heated water jug and this was perfect for protecting the plug connections. Watertight and very thick plastic. I should get 4-5 winters out of this. C. Birth, Customer since 2021 This is very nice! It has double rubber 'grommets' to keep the weather out, as well as a rubberized seal around the seam when closed. The seal also has a plastic 'locking' mechanism inside to keep the cords from pulling apart. I purchased this to use with my stock tank heater, which has a very short lead on it. Those are so dumb, because they tell you not to use with an extension cord, but give you about 5 feet of cord. Like I just happen to have a receptacle that close to my water tank!? So I use a very heavy-duty cord, and for several years have been tying the ends together and stuffing them up under a bucket with a block on top to keep the weather out. I am now able to lay this down toward the base of my tank, and run the extension cord from the other end. Overall it's much less bulky and goofy looking, and should definitely keep the snow out!
