Description: Outstanding WW2 1LT US M1 Helmet with fixed 1LT insignia on shell, and painted insignia on liner. Overall condition is very good plus, showing minor signs of wear and use. Shell is in very good plus condition retaining 95% of olive green textured paint. No dings, dents, scrapes, etc. A metal 1LT insignia is securely fastened to the front of the helmet and appears to be fixed with some form of epoxy, as there is nothing protruding through to the inside of the shell. Very nice! Liner is in very good plus condition; all webbing and associated accoutrements are present, with some markings present near forehead area of webbing (difficult to make out what they say, could be unit markings, could be manufacturer markings). Leather chinstrap liner is intact, and mildly pliable. Chinstrap buckle retains O.D. green finish correct to the period of manufacture. Inside of liner is dusty (appears to have been stored in an attic or garage). I wiped some of it down to be able to see the markings, but there is still some historic dust left behind! I'll leave it to the next owner to take care of this. External surfaces of liner are clean, showing signs of use, and retains 90%+ original paint. 1LT insignia has been carefully applied to the front. There is a section of the liner that shows the commonly encountered separation, but does not impact overall structural integrity, or displayability. Manufacturer Details: Shell - Schlueter Shell, Lot# 524A.Liner - Westinghouse High-Pressure Composite.Date of Manufacture - Mid-1943. A great overall helmet that would make an excellent addition to an advanced collection! This is a great investment opportunity, and will surely continue to increase in value/desirability in years to come. Don't miss out on a great opportunity to add this one to your collection!
