Description: We also have a Full restoration kit for this model -----------> LINK Welcome to my eBay listing! For quite some time, I've dedicated myself to servicing Fisher units, developing a profound respect for Fisher gear, especially their tube equipment. It's disheartening to witness many units needlessly altered or damaged due to issues with the on/off switch. After considerable time and effort, I've taken the initiative to re-manufacture several Fisher volume controls from the era. My primary aim was crafting a superior quality component surpassing the original volume pot. I'm thrilled to declare that I've achieved success. The result is a modern production potentiometer—an exact replica of the original but significantly improved in reliability and quality. Notably, the original on/off switch cap seamlessly fits the back of this pot, concealing the gray on/off switch (demonstrated in the attached image). Please be aware the cap used for demonstration isn't included in this auction. WORD OF CAUTION: However, I strongly caution against altering your unit, such as drilling holes in the faceplate/chassis or cutting the power cord for toggle switches. Such modifications drastically diminish the unit's future resale value. Any alteration decreases the unit's worth by at least twicethe cost of this new potentiometer. Here's why investing in a modern production pot for your Fisher receiver is advantageous: Many original volume controls used by Fisher had significant design flaws: a. The on/off switch was notoriously unreliable. Over 75% of these switches have likely failed by now, posing risks like units turning on unexpectedly—a potential fire hazard!Note: There were two versions of this switch, one with four connectors. A two-connector switch can be used instead by tracing and separating the hot and cold wires while soldering the other two wires to separate legs. b. Deteriorated carbon resistance paths in aging volume controls lead to unbalanced sound distribution. An unmatched potentiometer can cause one speaker to sound louder than the other.Even attempts to fix old switches/pots or buying NOS (New Old Stock) won't provide lasting solutions due to inherent design flaws. The issues plaguing these controls have been addressed in this new volume control—an impeccable factory-made potentiometer. I personally use these controls in restoring customers' Fisher units, consistently achieving positive results and well-balanced sound. With limited quantities available, I intend to retain a few for myself while aiding others in acquiring this elusive pot. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
