The guard itself is about 2.4in deep by 7.9in wide, plenty of vertical travel for the float guard to go up and down with the water level. No suction cups are needed, it is designed to clip and hold on to the glass on a typical aquarium, it works well with my 5, 10 20 gallon tank, doesn’t work with my 40 gallon tank.
