Description: FOSTORIA GLASS CO. - MAYFAIR TEA/MINI SUGAR in WISTERIA Color: Wisteria Item: 320137 FOSTORIA is recognized by many Americans as one of the most prolific makers of fine glass tableware. The company originated in Fostoria, Ohio in 1888 but relocated to Moundsville, West Virginia after encountering a shortage of natural gas, used in the manufacturing process. The company produced wares in crystal and magnificent colors, enhancing some pieces with etchings. In 1983, the company was sold to Lancaster Colony, who ceased operations three years later. Some of the company molds were sold and Lenox continued to produce these Fostoria patterns for a while. Mayfair, Blank 2419 Dinnerware manufactured in various colors beginning in 1930. Green was only produced for the first two years, but most items were available in Topaz/Gold Tint, Amber and Rose until the early 1940s. A limited number of the items were manufactured in Ebony, Ruby and Wisteria until 1942. This was one of the patterns designed by George Sakier.
