I believe this is a reproduction of a medal from that period, I do not know what metal it is composed of, just that it has a hole drilled at the top for attachment to a ribbon or sash? Its 3 inches across and weighs around 5.8 ounces. The front states: LUD-XVI-D-G-FR ET NAV-REX which as I understand it refers to King Louis the 16th The back states: MERITE, 1774, HA KO SAY EE, LE LUI REVIENT, PAIX HONNEUR AND AMITIE. Which means "Merit 1774 ... It belongs to him, peace, honor and friendship" I do not know what "Ha Ko Say Ee" means but it may be related to some native American dialect. I've also been informed that it might be Finnish for "Hia Kose Ee". Which would make it a friendship medal between France and Finland. Quarter shown for sizing purposes, not included.
