Description: This beautiful Grandfather Clock by Gasper Vieira features a stunning Chinoiserie design with black lacquer finish. The clock is powered by weight-driven mechanism and has a lovely ave-maria & Westminster chime sequences. Gaspar Vieira Chinoiserie Grandfather Clock - Made in Porto Portugal- Hand Painted. This is an absolutely gorgeous hand painted grandfather clock that was made in Portugal in the late 1970s. Imported and marketed by Ridgeway Clock Company. (Ridgeway Clocks was a division of Howard Miller Company) under the name Madame Sushi. This model was so labor intensive to produce and hand decorated that it took more than a year after ordering for the clock to arrive in the U.S. This clock features an engraved brass dial and a three-weight movement playing Westminster or Ave-Maria chimes every quarter hour on a German movement. Because of the expense of manufacturing and the extended delivery time, this model was discontinued after being offered for only a few short years. An extremely limited number of these clocks were made and are rare today. The clock runs perfectly and sounds gorgeous.
