Description: This is an antique German vase made by the firm Gabruder Heubach. It depicts a Dutch girl in traditional, colorful garb. She is in high relief. The vase stands 6.75" tall. The vase has a cream-colored base, with green near the bottom depicting the parcel the girl stands on. The girl is wearing a vividly colored dress, cape and cap. These have varying shades of light and dark green, pink, red-orange and white. The vase is in excellent, museum quality condition. It is incesed with "Scheveningen" near the base. This is a seaside district in the Hague in the South of Holland. The vase is stamped twice at the bottom. The first circular stamp says "Made in Germany." The second stamp is the old maker's mark of the Gebruder Heubach company, featuring the rising sun. These two stamps were used from 1882 on into the early 20th century. This vase probably dates to the late 1890's or very early 20th century. This is a lovely, colorful, piece of ceramic history, exhibiting the artistry and craftsmanship of Gabruder Heubach. It would be a desirable piece for collectors, interior decorators, or homeowners looking to add enliven any room of the house.
