Description: This is one of the most wonderful pieces of pottery I was able to find over quite a few decades. I purchased this from Apollo Antiquities in London, opposite the British Museum decades ago. I was lucky enough to purchase several pieces, like this one, which would normally be tagged as Canaanite pottery, meaning it’s is from the western part of the Middle East. It very old, Chalcolithic or copper age, 3000 to 3300 BC, also called Mosaic, referring to Moses, not art with little piece of rock. That is seriously old for a collectible piece of pottery. It’s pre-wheel and shaped by hand. It’s in superlative shape with a few small chips on the underside of the rim, but aside from that, lnothing. A wonderful patina from many thousands of years coat this great specimen. $239 and shipping included is a fair price for a piece of this rarity and quality.
